 Quantitative Methods in Economics and Information Systems (BACHELOR'S DEGREE)

The first-cycle studies in Quantitative Methods in Economics and Information Systems at the SGH Warsaw School of Economics provide basic knowledge in the field of economics, management and finance as well as the canon of knowledge related to quantitative methods in economics and information systems. 

The studies also include practical courses in the area of statistical and econometric analyses, decision-making, information technology and demography. The programme offers a choice between two educational profiles, one focusing on quantitative methods in economics, the other, on business informatics. 

The studies develop competencies necessary either to start a career in business entities and institutions where it is essential to use mathematical, statistical, econometric and IT tools or to manage one’s own business. They form a sound theoretical and methodological basis for the second-cycle studies.

Mode of study: full-time 

Duration: 3 years (6 semesters)


A graduate of the first-cycle studies in the field of Quantitative Methods in Economics and Information Systems at the SGH Warsaw School of Economics: 

  • knows basic theories and their applications related to the following educational content: mathematics, in particular mathematical analysis and linear algebra; probability theory and mathematical statistics; research design and statistical analysis; demography; mathematical economics; econometrics; operational research; finance and insurance mathematics; computer programming; design of information systems; databases, 
  • knows mathematical, statistical and econometric methods and tools necessary to analyse economic and social phenomena on a micro- and macroeconomic scale, 
  • is able to solve macro- and microeconomic problems with the use of various analytical tools, including modern information technologies, 
  • understands and knows how to use the tools of mathematical analysis in econometrics and information technology, 
  • is able to use linear algebra in statistics, econometrics and mathematical decision-making models, as well as to design and conduct statistical research, 
[social competencies:] 
  • demonstrates flexibility, independence of thought and rationality, constituting the basis for decision making processes in various economic entities and organisations, 
  • understands the need for a quantitative approach to improve the perceptionive, descriptionbe and analyse the surrounding economic, social and business reality, 
  • displays professional responsibility at work, in business entities and institutions in which it is required to use mathematical, statistical, econometric and IT tools.

Programmes in English are conducted only as full-time studies. 

The application and admissions procedure has the following stages: 
  1. registration in the online system 
  2. submission of required documents 
  3. end of submission of documents period 
  4. verification of documents by SGH 
  5. decisions on admission 
  6. information about registration for classes sent by Bachelor Dean's Office (in the registration system)
